She has demonstrated exceptional leadership as Director of multiple prominent civil society organizations, including Hamdard Reconstruction Organization, Rabia Balkhi Capacity Building Organization, and the Organization for the Support of Women and Youth. Most recently prior to August 2021, she served as Project Manager at the Afghan Women’s Training Center, where she led critical initiatives focused on women’s empowerment and vocational training.

Beyond her professional roles, Ms. Niloofar has been deeply engaged in civic leadership. She served as Deputy of the Civil Society Institutions Union in Balkh Province and as an active member of the Afghan Women’s Network. Her commitment to women’s advocacy extended to her role as Board Member of Rabia Balkhi Radio, a pioneering women-focused media outlet in northern Afghanistan. Additionally, she contributed to peacebuilding efforts as a member of Balkh Province’s Provincial Peace Council.

Mr. Mohd Rahman Oghli is a distinguished professional with extensive experience in engineering, education, government leadership, and diplomacy. He holds a Master’s degree in Science from Ukraine and began his career in 1990 as an engineer at the State Committee for Radio and Television of Afghanistan.

In 1992, he transitioned into education, serving as a technical instructor in Mazar-e-Sharif and later as a lecturer at the Institute of Mines and Industries and Balkh University. Between 1995 and 1999, he further expanded his leadership experience as the Director of Balkh Border Trade.

Mr. Oghli has also played significant roles in public service and advocacy. In 2000, he was elected President of the Afghan Refugees Union in Turkey. His dedication to governance continued in 2005 when he was elected as a representative of Faryab Province in the Afghan Parliament, where he served as the First Secretary of the Wolesi Jirga until 2006.

His expertise in economic and diplomatic affairs led to his appointment as Afghanistan’s Economic Representative in South Korea in 2012. In 2015, he was nominated as Minister of Economy, and in 2016, he served as Senior Advisor to the Chief Executive of the National Unity Government. From 2017 to 2020, he represented Afghanistan as Ambassador to Ukraine, Belarus, and Moldova.

After completing his secondary and post-secondary education in Canada, Rezwan became actively engaged in community development, volunteering with settlement programs where he witnessed the transformative power of mentorship and accessible resources. This inspired his ongoing commitment to creating inclusive support systems that empower newcomers to build connections, develop skills, and achieve their goals.

Today, Rezwan channels his firsthand understanding of migration challenges into meaningful advocacy and program development. His work focuses on fostering belonging, breaking down barriers, and creating pathways for successful community integration. Mohammad Shahpour is a technology professional, human rights advocate, and lifelong learner with a strong commitment to social justice and digital empowerment. Born in Herat, Afghanistan, he holds a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and built a distinguished career blending technical expertise with civic engagement.

As a dedicated human rights defender and civic activist, Mohammad spent years advancing social justice initiatives and community empowerment programs in Afghanistan. His parallel six-year career in IT and management saw him drive technological innovation while developing organizational systems that supported civil society growth.

Since relocating to Canada in 2022, Mohammad has continued his professional evolution through specialized studies in Science and Art at Toronto’s Humber College. His journey reflects both technical acumen and humanitarian values – a rare combination that informs his unique perspective on technology’s role in social development.

He holds two master’s degrees—a testament to his intellectual rigor—and leverages his fluency in five languages to bridge cultural divides and foster inclusive, multilingual support systems. His work embodies a unique fusion of scholarly insight and grassroots activism, driving meaningful change for immigrant communities.

Kawkaba Tarin was born in Afghanistan and raised with strong cultural values, resilience, and a dedication to hard work. Growing up internationally, she developed the ability to connect across cultures and languages.

Currently completing her high school education at Meadowvale School in Mississauga (2024), Kawkaba previously earned a diploma in English and Computer Studies from Payam Noor Educational Center in Istanbul (2019). She is fluent in English, Hindi, Farsi (Dari), and Pashto, allowing her to engage with diverse communities.

With experience in customer service and retail, including Walmart, she excels in problem-solving and delivering exceptional service. She now works as a Social Support Worker at PCHS, assisting individuals in need while utilizing her strong communication and organizational skills.
